Caring for someone or something isn’t always easy. When it comes to emotional relationships, and even more so those between children and parents/ educators, the mind fills with questions. What’s on my mind? Am I a good mother, a good father, a good educator? Am I doing enough? Too much? Am I doing it wrong?

Taking care is an illustrated essay dedicated to parents and educators in every context. A dialogue between an illustrator and a psychoanalyst, in which questions, answers, and illustrations intertwine in a reflection on the responsibilities of caring and education.

Carla Weber (author)

Carla Weber is a psychoanalyst and author whose work focuses on emotional development, care, and the relational foundations of human experience. Drawing on her clinical background, she explores the complexities of parenting, education, and intersubjectivity, translating psychoanalytic concepts into accessible reflections for a wider audience. Her writing brings together psychological insight and everyday experience, offering thoughtful perspectives on growth, responsibility, and the dynamics of care.

Valentina Gottardi (illustrator)

Valentina graduated in Architecture and Visual Arts. Since childhood she has cultivated his two great passions: nature and drawing. Over the years she experimented with different artistic techniques, creating her own style made of ballpoint pen, acrylics and tablets. At Cocai Books she deals with the conception and management of all projects, artistic direction and illustration.
