A little gardenA little gardenA little garden

A highly graphic board book for very young children, introducing shapes and colours, how they can be arranged, and encouraging the imagination — all within a world of plants and nature.

In this highly graphic board book, we first see a patch of ground made up of simple rectangles, representing a piece of bare earth. Then, little by little, colourful shapes begin to appear, like plants growing from the soil, until, page after page, they come together to form a magnificent multicoloured garden — a little corner of paradise!

The book uses a limited number of shapes and colours — the same ones featured in A Little Town, published simultaneously — to encourage imaginative play and construction. Through the medium of the book, it revisits classic childhood games and activities such as building blocks, LEGO bricks, stickers and tangrams.

Exploring the themes of plants and growth, the book is also an ode to nature and to the power of living things when they are listened to and respected. It shows how even a patch of barren, neglected or trampled ground can burst into beautiful new life. It invites children to imagine and create while caring for the environment, in a spirit of freedom, complementarity and harmony.
