When the teacher asks the class to fill out a journal during the holidays, Elisa is not thrilled. While her friends have big plans, she has to go to her great-great-aunt Gertrude’s house, who barely speaks and lives in the countryside. Nothing exciting to write about… at least, that’s what Elisa thinks!
Strong points
– A funny and touching album about family relationships in which writing helps to create bonds: thanks to the notebook, the heroine gets to know her great-great-aunt.
– Watercolor, ink, and paint illustrations that are both endearing and full of comical details.
– An invitation to look around: nature is full of wonders and little treasures!
Éva Chatelain (author & illustrator)
Born in Lower Normandy, Éva Chatelain grew up in a family of musicians. She quickly discovered that paper and pencils were just as important as sheet music, and she moved to Paris to study illustration. Today, she makes a living from her passion by illustrating books for various children’s publishers (Gründ, Hatier, Les P’tits Bérets). After Gustave Mouche (2019), Le Carnet d’Élisa is her second album to be published by L’Étagère du bas
