Author & Illustator:

Born in France and of Taiwanese origin, Sandrine Kao writes and illustrates picture books (Émerveillements, Après les vagues — Special Mention at the 2023 Bologna Children’s Book Fair in the Young Readers Comics category — Rêveries, Grasset Jeunesse, 2019, 2022, and 2024), graphic novels (Le Fil, Nathan, 2023), and also writes children’s novels (Comme un oiseau dans les nuages, Syros, 2022).

Asian culture deeply informs her work, both visually and thematically. In her books, she brings a gentle, poetic quality to everyday life and opens a doorway to others and to elsewhere.
