A beautiful picture book that explores the fear of the dark through a play of opposites, to make peace with darkness.

You can be afraid of the dark, yet love the night. Feel frightened by the twilight, yet marvel at the stars. Shiver at the thought of a dark, damp cave, yet enjoy snuggling into the soft, cozy cave formed by a warm blanket…

Alice de Nussy’s poetic text, rich in light and shadow, is masterfully illustrated by Stéphane Kiehl. Together, they explore the many shades of black, bringing forth warmth and light.

An ideal picture book to help children and adults alike reconcile the paradoxical feelings that darkness can inspire.
