Back to school… or not!

On the first day of the new school year, Alice sees a little wildcat in her classroom window, inviting her to follow him. Like a cheeky adventurer, she scurries out the window and sets off on a truant excursion. Meanwhile, the teacher spells out the classroom rules, which Alice and her cat friend don’t seem to want to obey.

In this slightly cheeky album, we’re pleased to welcome back the characters from La belle échappée (The great escape, 2020). After Magali Dulain, it’s Bérengère Mariller-Gobber’s turn to lend the softness of her color pencils to Maylis Daufresne’s story.

Alice’s carefree attitude raises questions about children’s freedom, but also about danger and obedience. Back to school… or not! is a chance to live, for the duration of an album, this dream of freedom: to go out through the classroom window and set off on an adventure.
