From world-renowned Argentinean illustrator ISOL, winner of the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA), and from acclaimed Brazilian American author Victor D.O. Santos (author of the multiple-award-winning picture books What Makes Us Human and People Are Weird), comes a hilarious picture book about a young boy who just can’t fall asleep, wondering if he’ll ever be a winner like his very competitive dad.

“Winners never quit and quitters never win!” his dad always tells him.

Maybe all he needs to do is copy his dog’s sleep position? Or maybe count a whole lot more sheep?

Tonight, he’s determined to win.

Isol is one of the world’s most admired and celebrated author-illustrators of children’s books. Born in Argentina, she was the 2013 winner of the prestigious Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA), the winner of a Golden Apple at the Biennial of Illustration, Bratislava, and has been a finalist for the Hans Christian Andersen Award several times. In 2026, she won the Ibero-American Cervantes Chico Prize. Her picture books, translated into dozens of languages, have been selected for the USBBY Outstanding International Books list, the White Ravens catalog, and as a Best Book of the Year in numerous countries.

⭐Laureate of the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (2013)

“As a visual storyteller, Isol sees things from the eye level of a child. She is unfailingly loyal to her young readers. A straight, consistent line of energy and trust runs through all her works. (…) Isol’s works contain extreme elements, fun elements and unpredictable elements, along with humour and an ability to create visual narratives with a surprising twist.”
